Wall Avant

Scranton
Lena Mae Douglas Wall Avant, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2025, in Scranton, South Carolina. A daughter of the late John and Pearl Perry Douglas, she was born on July 30, 1935, in Hemingway, South Carolina. Mrs. Lena Mae lived a life devoted to her family, her faith and her community.
After graduating from high school, Lena Mae pursued a career in healthcare administration. She worked diligently as an administrator for Johnson Memorial Hospital and the Bryant Clinic in Hemingway. Later in life, her passion for caregiving led her to serve as a private caregiver, offering companionship and support to numerous individuals and families in her local community.
Lena Mae was a woman of deep faith who instilled the love of the Lord in her children and grandchildren. Her kindness and devotion were evident in every aspect of her life. She found great joy in canning—especially making jelly—cooking delicious homemade biscuits, and painting Artex ceramics. Above all else, she cherished time spent with family and friends.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Wanda Duncan; sons Robbie Wall, Jr. (Cheryl) and Sidney Wall (Teresa); grandchildren English Miller (Rob), Emily Cox, Kelsi Rose (Daniel), Kacey Lambert (Scotty), Jessica Wall, Allie Wall, and Lizzie Walker (Rev. Noah); nine great-grandchildren with one soon to arrive; and daughter-in-law Debbie Wall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robbie Matthew Wall, her beloved sons Rev. Michael Wall and Tony Wall, and son-in-law Michael Duncan.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N Main Street, Hemingway, SC, 29554. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home, Inc. of Hemingway, SC, will follow the service in the Bethany Cemetery, 2880 South Highway 41-51, Hemingway, SC, 29554.
