Leona Keen Morris, widow of W. Carol Morris, Sr., passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 in Roper Hospice Cottage in Mt. Pleasant, SC
Mrs. Leona was born in Goldsboro, NC, a daughter of the late George Edgar and Verdie Westbrook Keen. She was a member of the Hemingway First Baptist Church and the Mission Action Circle. She was very active in Sunday School and the church choir. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star # 156, Sunshine Club, and Three Rivers Historical Society.
Mrs. Leona and Mr. Carol were the owner and operators of Morris Shoe Shop in Hemingway for many years.
She is survived by her son, William C. (Judy) Morris, Jr. of Georgetown, SC and one brother, Eugene Keen, of Goldsboro, NC; 5 grandsons, Robert (Lindy) Morris, Kevin (Jennifer) Morris, Brad (Temple) Fennell, Ron (Stephanie) Watford, and Craig Watford, along with 7 great-grandchildren, McCabe, Conner, Kam, Bellamy, Brandon, Beckham, and Sailor Kate.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carol; daughter, Lynn (Ronnie) Watford; great-grandson, Jameson; sister, Virginia Keen Ormond; brothers, John Preston Keen, and Elmon Buddy Keen, all of Goldsboro, NC.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, June 23, 2019 in the Hemingway First Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery, 800 N. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday, June 23, 2019 in the Hemingway First Baptist Church, 200 E. George St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hemingway First Baptist Church, PO Box 6, Hemingway, SC 29554, St. Jude's Children Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Roper Hospice Cottage, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mt. Pleasant, SC29429.
