Lewis Robert Jones, 79, husband of Johnnelle Marsh Jones, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023 in Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Lewis was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Lewis Benjamin and Genevia Cribb Jones. Before his retirement, he worked for Georgetown County Public Works as a heavy equipment operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Johnnelle Marsh Jones; children, Esther Delacruz, Sheila (Anthony) Thompson, Wanda (Bobby) Marlow, Ben (LaWanda) Jones, and Heather Cribb (John Gordon); sisters, Etta Owens (Joey Gray) and Janie (Wayne) Skipper; brothers, Luther (Linda) Jones and Henry (Vickie) Jones; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was predeceased by sisters, Ethel Maebell Jones and Juanita Haynie.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 5 PM, at Freedom Tabernacle Full Gospel Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will follow at Old Field Cemetery, 19761 Choppee Rd, Hemingway, SC 29554.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 6 PM to 8 PM, at Freedom Tabernacle Full Gospel Church, 264 Roy Drive, Hemingway, SC 29554.
