Liston J. Parrott, age 84 of Florence, SC, passed away September 3, 2024 at the McLeod Hospice House.

Liston was born in 1939 to Clemon and Lela Parrott of Lake City, SC.  With parents' blessing, Liston enlisted in the Air Force at the age of 17, and went on to serve his country for 30 years.  Liston met his wife, Virginia Houck, in Florence where she was attending nursing school at McLeod. While in the Air Force, Liston, with Ginny and daughter Debra, lived in numerous locations including England, Oregon, Virginia and Florida. Liston and Ginny retired to Florence where Liston had a second long career with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Liston enjoyed walks on sunny days, college football, a good cup of coffee with something sweet, and was always happy to help his neighbors and friends.  Liston was also a member of various coffee groups over the years, most recently at Hardee's on Irby.  Above of all, Liston was a devoted family man, a caring husband and supportive father. He will be greatly missed by all.

Liston is preceded in death by parents, brother Cecil, and wife Virginia.  He is survived by daughter Debra and close friend of the family Leah Williams.

Liston will be laid to rest at the Garden of Devotion Cemetery in Johnsonville.  Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
