Hemingway, SC

Lonnie Earl Thompson, Sr., 64, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Earl was born in Hemingway, a son of the late William Barton and Miriam Louise Cribb Thompson. He was retired International Paper as a machine operator and was also a former Plantation Manager for Outland Forest. He was a former Union President at International Paper Co. in Georgetown. He was a member of the Outland Church of God and he enjoyed hunting, fishing anything to do outdoors and Blue Grass Music.

Surviving is his wife, Virginia Poston Thompson; son, Lonnie Earl Thompson, Jr; grandchildren, Lonnie Earl Thompson, III and Dawson O'Neille "Bug" Thompson; brothers, Rocky Allen (Denise) Thompson, Charles Barton (Barbara) Thompson, and William Keith (Maethonia) Thompson; sister, Miriam Lynn (Al) Dennis; sister-in-law, Brandi Parsons; a number of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Bryan Eric Thompson.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Outland Church of God. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, July 16, 2018 in the Outland Church of God, 22075 Choppee Road, Hemingway, SC 29554.
