Lula Powell Mims, 78, widow of Gene T. "Buddy" Mims, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at the McLeod Hospice House.

Mrs. Lula was born in Johnsonville, SC, a daughter of the late Dike and Earline Tanner Powell. She was the retired Principal of the New Prospect Christian School and was a member of the New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church.

She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard, cherished all the children that went to her school, but loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Jonna K. Mims; brothers, Norris (Betty) Powell and Jeffrey L. Powell; sisters, Katie Avant Parsons, Louvenia (Earl) Smith, Pancye Hunt, and Jennifer Powell.

She was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Mascara; brother, Harry Powell.

DUE TO COVID-19, THE FAMILY WILL NOT BE PRESENT but Mrs. Lula will lie in state Monday, April 26, 2021 from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM and Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gethsemane Free Will Baptist Church of Pentecostal Faith, PO Box 621, Aynor, SC 29511 or the McLeod Hospice (Jessie's Kids) PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502
