Hemingway, SC

Lyndon Jerome Owens, 57, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018 in a Georgetown hospital.

Lyndon was born in Georgetown, SC, a son of the late Laurice Cortez and Ruby Edith Avant Owens. He was a HVAC Technician for Greyman Climate Control Systems, a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School, and was of the Baptist faith. He was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed, hunting, fishing, and camping.

Surviving is his wife, Betty Wrenn Owens; children, Denise (Jonathan) Filyaw, Ruby (Matt) Whitman, Richard (Lynn) Cook, Joe Cook, Keith (Kim) Cook, Johnny (Crystal) Cook and Lynette (Charles) Goodwin; grandchildren, Hayden, Savanna, Hanna Filyaw, Brianna, Jada, Shelton Goodwin; a number of other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Cortez (Martha) Owens, Damon Owens, Roger (Darnell) Owens, and Keith (Cindy) Owens; sisters, Suzanne (John) Pope and Vicky (Randy) Zurcher; a number of nieces and nephews; predeceased by a brother, Travis Owens; sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Owens and Julia Owens.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 9, 2018 in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the church cemetery, 5542 Carvers Bay Road, Hemingway, SC 29554.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Saturday, December 8, 2018 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Hemingway, SC 29554
