Mae Witt Huggins, 92, widow of Ottis Guinan "Sawman" Huggins, passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at her home.
Mrs. Mae was born in Saluda, SC, a daughter of the late John Martin and Eula Burnice Cockrell Witt. She was a retired Registered Nurse having graduated from the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1948. She was also in the Cadet Nursing Corp during World War II.
She was a member of the Johnsonville United Methodist Church where she was a member for 67 years, a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary, Johnsonville Women's Club, Hemingway Garden Club, and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing bridge and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her children, Marie (Mike) Crawford, Martin (Sara) Huggins and Rev. Bob (Rachel) Huggins; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Reba (Ronnie) Wright, Rachel (Howard) Bentley, Ethel McDowell and Verdelia King; a number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph T. Huggins; great-grandson, John Duncan Thigpen; 2 sisters and 6 brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, October 6, 2017 in the Johnsonville United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the Old Johnsonville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM unitl 4:00 PM Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Johnsonville United Methodist Church, 240 N. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555.
