Hemingway, SC
Margaret Douglas Cox, 87, of Princeton IN., formerly of Hemingway, SC, widow of Doris Cox, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 in the Deaconess Gateway hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.
Margaret was born August 15, 1933, in Hemingway, SC, to John and Essie Pearl (Perry) Douglas. She attended Hemingway School. In her early years Margaret had an in-home daycare and enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom. She loved the children she babysat and still kept in contact with many of them. Later in life, she became a caregiver to the sick and elderly continuing to show her love for others. She loved watching game shows, especially Family Feud. Since her health prevented her from attending Church in person, Margaret enjoyed watching televised Evangelists and listening to gospel music. She was known to all who loved her as "Granny", and her greatest love was for her family.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Douglas Jackson and Darlene Cox Williams: step-daughters, Frances Cox Howell and Faye Cox: sister, Lena Mae Avant; grandchildren, David, Joshua, Daynette, DeYonna, Douglas, and Danielle; great grandchildren, Chelsie, Dawson, Lyla, Lilly, Deyleigh, and Maddin; 10 step grandchildren; and 10 step great grandchildren.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, John and Pearl Douglas; husband, Doris White Cox, who passed away in 1975; sisters, Nell D. Barnes, Eunice Baxley, Frances Sawyer, and Elizabeth "Bette" Hanna; and half daughter, Jean Wells.
