Hemingway, SC

Marguerite Pope Carmichael, 91, widow of Cephus Carmichael, passed away Friday, January 18, 2019 in a Florence hospital.

Mrs. Marguerite was born in Hemingway, a daughter of the late Stanley Stonewall Pope and the late Bertie Baxley. She was a member of Outland Church of God and the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving is her sons, Leo (Naomi) Carmichael and Sherman (Beverly) Carmichael; grandchildren, Ric (Tamara) Carmichael and Lucia (Corey) Neely; great-grandchildren, Sean and Blake Mahaffey, and Crystyn, Alexa, Taylor and Gracey Neely; brothers, Lonnie (Margie) Pope and Tony (Jolene) Pope; sisters, Marcella Russ and Sadie (Ray) House.
She was predeceased by a son Steve Carmichael; 8 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, January 21, 2019 in the Outland Church of God. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, January 20, 2019 in the Outland Church of God, 22075 Choppee Road, Hemingway, SC 29554.
