Mrs. Marie Owens Howard, 76, wife of Dan Howard, passed away in the early morning hours on Friday, November 29, 2024 at McLeod Medical Center in Florence, SC.

Born in Hemingway, SC, Marie was the daughter of the late Cornelius Bernice and Lula Belle (Wilder) Owens.  In addition to being a loving mother and devoted wife, she was a retired teacher who touched the lives of many elementary aged children.  Marie loved the people of her community and was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she taught women's Sunday School for many years and led the Senior Adults Joyful Hearts group.  She was dedicated to studying God's word and participated in the Community Bible Study in Georgetown and Hemingway as well as Bible Study Fellowship in Houston, TX.  Marie also served her community as an active member of the Georgetown County Republican Party.  She enjoyed her home and yard, especially to host family and friends.  Marie's greatest joy in life came from spending time with her beloved husband, children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband of fifty-three years, Marie is survived by a daughter, Anne Marie (Jay) Lopiccolo of Hartsville, SC; a son, Garrett Howard of Hemingway, SC; grandchildren:  Owens, Mary Jane, Samantha, Annabelle, Christina, and Rett Lopiccolo; a sister, Belva Ann (Dave) Wolter; and sisters-in-laws:  Jackie Owens, Connie Gainey, Andy Owens, Mina Owens, and Dot Cribb as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Marie was pre-deceased by her brothers:  William Bernice Owens, Terry Neil Owens, Roger Wayne Owens, and Samuel Owens.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. prior to the service on Monday, December 2, 2024 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 11904 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hemingway, SC, 29554.
