Martin Huggins, born on September 10, 1957, son of the late Joseph T. and Mae W. Huggins, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on June 15, 2026, in Florence, South Carolina. He was 68 years old.
Martin earned his Bachelor's Degree, with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry, from the University of South Carolina and carried a lifelong love for learning and exploration. He was employed by Wellman Inc. as the Corporate Director of Environmental Affairs for 28 years. His passions included hunting, fishing, farming, spending time outdoors especially walking and exploring the woods of his family land and Snow Island Hunting Club, reading, solving word searches, and delving into ancestry research. Above all else, he cherished his relationship with Jesus Christ , his family ,and friends deeply and found immense joy in their company.
A man of faith, Martin was a devoted member of Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church. His spiritual life was a cornerstone of his journey and provided him with strength and guidance throughout his years, especially as his health declined.
Martin is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sara Hanna Huggins, his son John Martin (Amani) Huggins Robinson; daughters Jennifer Huggins (Jay) Desai and Amanda Brooke (Cole) Baucom; and his beloved grandchildren Aria Desai, Avi Desai, Ariv Desai, Aurora Baucom, and Nox Baucom. He is also survived by his brother Rev. Bob (Rachel) Huggins; sister Marie Crawford; best friend and bonded brother Jimmy Brown; as well as many nieces and nephews and loved ones who held a special place in his heart.
In addition to his parents, Martin was predeceased by his brother-in-law Mike Crawford; stepfather O.G. "Sawman" Huggins; and best friend and bonded brother Steve Knight, Jr.
A Memorial Service, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held on June 19, 2026, at 02:00 PM at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1021 S. Ebenezer, Florence, SC 29501. A Visitation will be held on June 19, 2026, from 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
