Marvin Levoid "Slim" Young, 84, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Young was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Rufus Wilson and Ela Vernice Moore Young. He retired from Georgetown Steel. He was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing and singing Bluegrass music.

Surviving are his wife, Clara Smith Young; children, Steve (Jerri Lynn) Young and Yvonne (Legette) Powell; sister, Nancy (Frankie) Moore; special nephew, Rob Young; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a son, Johnny Young; 2 sisters, Blonnie Young and Ruby Young.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, 7547 Pleasant Hill Dr., Hemingway, SC 29554, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
