A son of the late Marvin Doris and Thelma Cox Stone, Donald was a 1954 graduate of Johnsonville High School and attended Wingate College. Donald was "a jack of all trades" which included hog farming as well as selling and making fertilizers. His greatest personal accomplishment was establishing Blackwell Mills where he produced grits, hushpuppy mix, seafood breader, and cornmeal for local grocery stores as well as The Shrimper and Landry's.

He was a distinguished 60-year member of the Grand Lodge Freemasons of South Carolina. Donald was a Master Mason who served as a Past Master of Leo Lodge #310.  In addition, he was a dedicated member of the Omar Shriners as well as the Omar Jailbirds of Hemingway, South Carolina.

He enjoyed spending time on the open road riding his motorcycle.  His greatest adventure was an 11-day trip across Route 66 with his friends.  In addition, he loved golfing at the Wellman Club where he was a member of the group fondly known as "The Hotdogs" where he advanced to The Pee Dee Seniors.  Donald also found pleasure spending time outdoors where he enjoyed taking care of his ducks, geese, and fish.

Donald is survived by daughters Donnell Mace, Robin Morris (Mitchell Collins), Ninita (Darin) Brown, and Gina Stone (Patrick Barefoot); grandchildren Boone Mace, Annsley Mace, Shayla (Barett) Altman, Chad (Meredith) Powell, Jon Curtis Powell, Matthew Stone, Jana Stone, and Jackson Barefoot, a brother, Doolittle Stone; a sister Dora Durant; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
