Mary Alice Anderson Collins, 80, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital in Georgetown, South Carolina.

A daughter of the late Robert Lee and Elease Cribb Anderson, Mary was born on August 12, 1946, in Hemingway, South Carolina. She spent her life rooted in the community where she was born.

Mary worked in the molding department of Tupperware Manufacturing in Hemingway. During her free time, she enjoyed sewing, yard and garden work, tending flowers, and going to yard sales. In addition, she enjoyed attending Owens Swamp Church. These interests were a meaningful part of her life and reflected the simple pleasures she appreciated.

Mary’s life was closely centered on family. Described as “a loving mother and grandmother who was like a grandmama to all of the children in the family,” she found her greatest joy in raising her children and grandchildren. Mary took special pleasure in the everyday moments shared with them.

Mary is survived by sons, Ken Collins, Jr. and Jeff (Julie) Collins; daughter, April (Derek) Wise; grandchildren: Kenneth E. (Chelsie) Collins, III; Andrew Thomas (Kaylyn) Collins; Caleb (Cherish) Collins; Collin Wise; Grace Wise; Sawyer Hunt; Anderson Ard; John Charles Ard; great-grandchildren: Adalynn Collins, Emma Collins, Carter Collins, and Kai Zane; and Kim (Chan) Ard, Jennifer (Stan)Hunt, and April Collins who she loved as her own, as well as three step-grandchildren: Matthew Filyaw, Bridgette Avant, and Spencer Avant.

Mary was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Kathy Anderson.

The family will receive friends in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 6, 2026 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N Main Street, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554.  Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery located at 11904 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554.
