Mary Cook King, 90, wife of Durwood King, passed away Sunday March 31, 2019 at her home.

Mrs. Mary was born in Conway, SC, a daughter of the late Cletus and Lottie Collins Cook. She was a member of the Center Baptist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher for 40 years. She enjoyed sewing, making ceramic figurines, writing historical items, short stories, poems, and newspaper columns, she is best known for her baking especially her pound cakes and bread. She was always thinking of others with her giving heart.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Durwood King; children, Layne (Phylis) King and Lori (Layne) Bleess; grandchildren, Becci (Joe) Dean, Kerri (Shane) Hollar, Ritchie (Emily Elert) King, Beth Erb, John Erb, and Hellen DeFreese; great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Kate, Lillian, Ivy, Ada, Roxy, Taylor, Emily and Camden; sister, Lois Ewana (James) Cureton.
She was predeceased by a son, Commander Lanny King; brothers, Laverne Cook and George Cook; sisters, Elizabeth Brown, Vera Bennett, Emily Taylor, and Rose Brown.

Funeral services, officiated by Dr. David Dinkins, will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 7, 2019 in the Center Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Center Baptist Church, 2602 Schoolhouse Drive, Hemingway, SC 29554.
