Merland Liston "Mert" Poston, 86, husband of Emma Dennis Poston, passed away on Friday, July 30, 2021, at a Florence hospital.

Mr. Mert was born in Pamplico, SC, a son of the late Liston B. and Ada Powell Poston. Before retiring, he was a farmer and construction worker. Mr. Mert was the oldest charter member of New Vision Original Free Will Baptist Church where he formerly served as a deacon. In his spare time, he could be found working in his garden or spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Emma Dennis Poston; children, Bruce (Kathy) Poston, Terry Poston, Vicki (John) Bass, and Ronald (Beth) Poston; daughter-in-law, Ramona Poston; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Shelby Kelly and Joan Watson.

He was predeceased by a son, Merland Alvin Poston; grandson, Capers Liston "Casey" Hutchinson; one brother; and six sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at 4 PM, in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be at Mill Branch Cemetery, 250 Evans Road, Johnsonville, SC 29555.

The family will receive friends from 3 PM until 4 PM on Sunday, August 1, 2021, in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 North Main Street, Hemingway, SC 29554.
