Mildred Browder Hughes, 95, widow of Archie Price Hughes, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, November 7, 2020.

Mrs. Mildred was born in Johnsonville, SC, a daughter of the late Audrey and Essie Powell Browder. She was a member of the Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Being a very civic minded person, she participated in a variety of clubs and served on numerous boards in the surrounding area and towns.

She was a very well known, and respected author, journalist, and columnist for the Weekly Observer as well as being published in several other newspapers and publications.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Belge, Janet Straub, and Cheryl (Deryl) Poston; son-in-law, Loraine Cussac; sisters, Erma Owens and Lois Cox; numerous grandchildren and a multitude of great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Peggy Cussac and Cynthia Royal.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in the Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery, 800 S. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in the Johnsonville Pentecostal Holiness Church, 330 N. Georgetown Hwy., Johnsonville, SC 29555.
