Morris Eugene Hyman, 70, passed away on February 26, 2025, at MUSC Health Black River, Cades, South Carolina. Born on October 18, 1954, in Columbia, South Carolina, he was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of many.
A proud graduate of the Johnsonville High School Class of 1974, Eugene later worked in the Tow Motor Department of Wellman Industries in Johnsonville. He carried a strong sense of community throughout his life. In his younger years, he served as a volunteer firefighter with the Johnsonville Volunteer Fire Department, dedicating his time and energy to helping others. His passion for service extended beyond firefighting as he found great joy in coaching softball and mentoring young athletes. He cherished every moment with them.
Eugene is survived by the love of his life, Mary Kirton Hyman; a son, Andy Hyman; daughters Christina Gordon and Misty Johnson; daughter-in-law Ashley Tyler; and bonus daughter Heidi Hartfield; grandchildren—Mason, Nathan, Matthew, Andrew, Serena, and Sidney; great-granddaughter Wrenley Poston; bonus grandchildren Melody and Brittany; siblings James McDaniel (Tiffany), Myers Hyman (Anna), Luther Hyman, and Helen Thompson (Lanny); and special friends Edward Bell and Dean McAllister.
