Hemingway, SC

Muriel Edwards Tanner, 89, widow of Arley Cling Tanner, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2018 in a Florence nursing center.

Ms. Muriel was born in Pamplico, SC, a daughter of the late Leslie and Georgia Summerford Edwards. She was retired from Tomlinson's Department Store and was a member of Midway Baptist Church.

Surviving is her daughters, Sherry (Randy) Harrelson, Deborah (Jimmy) Mitcheom, and Peggy Tanner; brothers, Wayne (Shelby) Edwards and Lee (Gwen) Edwards; sisters, Mary C. Lyerly and Georgia C. (Earl) Watson; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Frances Horne; grandson, Jamie Mitcheom; sisters, Verna Mercuri and Vera Holt; brothers, C. M. Edwards, Billy Edwards, and Derieux Edwards.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 26, 2018 in the Midway Cemetery, Chair Road, Hemingway, SC 29554, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC.

The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
