Nan Poston Grier, 83, widow of Marion Grier, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2023 in Mt. Pleasant, SC.

Mrs. Nan was born in Hemingway, SC a daughter of the late Woodrow and Hattie Douglas Poston. Nan worked hard throughout her life. Her career path began in Hemingway where she owned and operated an office supply and gift shop. Nan, also, served as the editor of the Weekly Observer early in her career. Later, she retired from Wellman Industries where she worked as Director of Payroll Services. Nan's final role was with the Workforce Department of the Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments serving as a Training Services Specialist and Administrative Assistant. At each of the jobs she held, Nan brought laughter and joy to her coworkers and customers.

Nan loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, decorating, crafts and entertaining. She was known for her delicious caramel cakes and desserts and loved putting on "parties" for her grandchildren. Most of all she loved spending time laughing with friends and family. After relocating to Florence later in life, Nan joined St. Paul United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, Chris (Heather) Grier and Suzi G. (Steve) Steese; grandchildren, Stephen (Brooke) Steese, Catherine Steese, Coleman Grier, Mary Ella Grier, Haylie Steese, and Logan Steese; great-grandchildren, Nathan Steese, and Samuel Steese; sister, Judy (Sam) Wingate along with nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by two sisters, Genevieve Bennett and Peggy Cronland.

Memorial services, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 29, 2023 in the St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1629 W. Palmetto St., Florence, SC 29501 with visitation following in the Family Life Center at the church.
