Mrs. Rebecca "Becky" Hughes Dunahoe, widow of Henry Will "Bill" Dunahoe, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Carlyle Senior Care Center in Kingstree, SC.

Mrs. Becky was born in Hemingway, SC, a daughter of the late Richard and Myrtle Hughes.  She attended the University of Georgia where she completed coursework which enabled her to work as a clinical counselor as she sought to minister to many individuals.

Mrs. Becky was an active member of the Johnsonville-Hemingway communities.  Over the years, she founded and operated The Lighthouse in Hemingway and was responsible for organizing the Inmate Fellowship through a jail ministry.  She was a founding member of Crossover Church in Johnsonville, SC where she served as a spiritual leader, organized the church food bank, and taught many small groups.  Mrs. Becky was also a historian and genealogist who authored eight local history books.

She is survived by a daughter, Eve Dunahoe Hayes, and a son, Richard Dunahoe; grandchildren Edward Neil Dunahoe, Daniel Carrigan, Jessica Miller, Caitlin Todd, and Jessica Biscayne; and great-grandchildren Richard Miller, Jr. and Bryson Carrigan.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Becky was predeceased by brothers Arlet Hughes, Jack Hughes, Carroll Hughes, and Ned Hughes and sisters Marynell Milling and Lydia Wofford.

Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, persons wishing to honor Mrs. Becky are asked to make a donation in her memory to a church of their choosing.
