Richard Evins Powers, 59, widower of Denise Desfonds Powers, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Powers was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of Bertha Tilton Powers and the late Ladson Powers. He as a carpenter, was of the Church of God Faith, and enjoyed fishing.

Surviving is his mother, Bertha T. Powers; children, Brandon Desfonds, Nicole Powers, Alicia Powers Altman, and Richard Lee Powers, Jenifer Powers; sister, Virginia (Robert) Marsh; 3 grand-sons.

He was predeceased by 3 brothers Russell, James, and Robert Powers: sisters Marie Thompson and Mary Powers.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in the Cornerstone Church of God. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends form 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, January 8, 2018 at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
