Rodger Lariby Lawrimore, age 77, beloved husband of Linda S. Lawrimore, passed away on Sunday, May 12 at the Medical University of South Carolina, Florence.  Born on February 7, 1947, he was the son of the late Jacob Baker Lawrimore, Sr. and Alma Inez Newell Lawrimore. Rodger was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, a veteran of the United States Air Force during which he served one tour in Vietnam, a member of the American Legion Post 84, Hemingway SC and a lifelong farmer who also worked for the Department of Agriculture and "graded tobacco on the warehouse floor".  One of his greatest joys in life was riding his motorcycle with his cousin Larry.

Rodger was a sweet, gentle, loving, kind Christian man, who always saw the best in others and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving to cherish his memory include his wife, Linda, stepson Matthew C. Lathrop (Jenn), grandchildren Claire, Quinn, Kate, and Nikolas Lathrop of Covington GA, brothers Gary Lawrimore (Etta) of Florence SC and Terry Lawrimore of Sterling VA and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Hattie Lougene Sheely and brothers, Wayne Lawrimore and Jacob Baker Lawrimore, Jr.

The family will receive friends Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Hemingway United Methodist Church, 201 E Broad Street in Hemingway SC.  Burial will follow at 2:00 PM in the Lawrimore Memorial Cemetery, Muddy Creek Road, Hemingway SC.

Active pallbearers will be Matthew Lathrop, Chris Smith, Daniel Newell, Jake Webster, Jamie Lawrimore, Basil Owens, Kareem "Toad" Weaver, and JP Truesdale with Pastor Lou Perez officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion Post 84, Hemingway, SC.

Suggested memorials may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, the American Cancer Society or the Hemingway First Methodist Church, PO Box 6, Hemingway, SC, 29554.

The family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of prayers, calls, love and support during this time as well as the doctors and nurses from MUSC 4th and 7th floors for their loving care and compassion.  An additional special thank you is extended to Kelsey Shamblen and Dr. Wael Ghalayini, MD, MUSC Health & Hematology Oncology, Florence for their extra special care as well.
