Mrs. Ruby Hanna Douglas, 85 widow of George Ballard Douglas, passed away Monday, October 10, 2022 at The Palms of Florence (formerly Commander Nursing Center) after a brief illness. Mrs. Ruby was born in Williamsburg County to William Gillie and Letha Vermell Douglas Hanna. She was the youngest of eight children.

She was retired from Wellman Industries and always enjoyed cooking for her children and grandchildren. She attended Poplar Hill Church and enjoyed visiting people in nursing homes, listening to music, shopping and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons Ron Douglas of Johnsonville, Donald (Deborah) Douglas of Bristow, VA and daughter, Esther (Gerald) Clement of Conway.

She adored her grandchildren, Jordan (Lil) Douglas of Summerton, Justin (Ariel) Douglas of Hemingway, Adam (Robyn) Douglas of Rock Hill and Ryan (Lauren) Douglas of New Market, Maryland; and great-grandchildren Jackson, Royce, Sunnie and Lilly Margaret.

The family would like to thank her special friends, Dorothy Bass, Marc Bass, Kem Poston, Vickie McKenzie and Henry (Jackie) Poston as well as many others who always went above and beyond to take care of Mrs. Ruby throughout her illness and long before.

She was predeceased in death by her husband of 48 years, George Ballard Douglas, her parents and siblings, James Laurie, William Earl, Richard, Roy, Alma, and Doll.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 3:00 PM burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery, 2880 S. Hwy 41/51, Hemingway, SC 29554.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 12, 2022 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
