Ruby Marie Reason Cameron, widow of Larry Wayne Cameron, 76 of Florence, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026 at her home.  Ruby lived a life marked by love, dedication, and service to her family and community.

A daughter of the late Raleigh Joe and Leona Baxley Reason, Ruby was born on April 17, 1950, in Mullins, South Carolina.  A proud graduate of Britton's Neck High School in 1968, Ruby was a spirited cheerleader during her school years. Her determination and work ethic were evident early on as she began her career the day after graduation. On that day, she began her career as a telephone operator for Bell South, which later became AT&T.  Ruby dedicated herself to this profession until her well-earned retirement.

Ruby's life was enriched by her many passions and talents. While her husband, Larry, took charge of the cooking at home, Ruby was renowned for her culinary specialties.  Her pound cakes and peanut brittle were legendary among all who had the pleasure of tasting them. She found joy in sharing these treats with others. Ruby also had a green thumb and took great pride in her yard, where something was always blooming under her care. She loved spending time outdoors fishing and jet skiing at Santee, creating cherished memories with those close to her.

Faith played an integral role in Ruby's life. In her early years, she was a member of Nebo Baptist Church in Britton's Neck. Later, she became a devoted member of Greenwood Baptist Church in Florence, where she actively participated in the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class. Her faith and commitment to her church community were constants throughout her life.

Ruby is survived by sisters Geri Hatchell and Gail Huggins and brother, Ed (Gail) Reason.  She is also survived by the following special family members who held a dear place in her heart: Wayne and Lynette Reason; Melissa (John) Farmer; Christy (Teddy) Salters; Scott (Angie) Reason; Kenneth (Angel) Huggins; Glenn (Cindy) Pace; Tracy (Nick) Lefebrye; Alyson (Bradley) Weston; Eddie Cameron; Amy (Darman)Weaver; Louie (Hazel) Cameron, brother-in-law; and sister-in-laws Lynn (Bill) Scott and Lisa (Darrell) Moody.

In addition to her loving and faithful husband of 56 years and her parents, Ruby was predeceased by her beloved son Larry Wayne Cameron, Jr.; sister Joyce Grantham; and nephew Chad Hatchell.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Agape Hospice of Florence for the wonderful care provided to Ruby over the past months. They would especially like to extend their gratitude to caregivers Kisgria Kennedy, Destiny McDowell, and Kawanda Jackson.

Memorials may be made in Ruby's honor to the Omar Shriners.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at Nebo Baptist Church, 6411 SC 908, Britton's Neck, South Carolina, 29546.  The family will receive friends in the Church sanctuary one hour prior to the service.  Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, South Carolina, will take place in the Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery which is located beside the Church.
