Hemingway
Hemingway, SC
Ruth Kathleen Rowe Goude, 96, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at her "home" she loved. She had been in declining health for several years, but when she had good memory, she still loved to "laugh" and tell us all of "ole times."
Mrs. Kathleen was born Oct. 18, 1925 in the Pleasant Hill area to the late Joseph "Joe" Melvin Rowe and the late Louiza "Lou" Douglas Rowe. She attended schools at Pleasant Hill.
In 1946 she married William Edward Goude, and they moved to their "home" in the Good Hope Community where they both joined Good Hope United Methodist Church and both were workers in the church and the community. She loved to sing and shared her talent with others. Her grandchildren will always love and remember the "children's songs" she taught them. She loved family gatherings with much laughter, cooking meals and desserts, and working/gardening in her yard. It was said that "she could outwork most men and outdress most women!" Mrs. Kathleen was famous for her "home-baked" apple pies which she loved to share with others.
Surviving are her two children: Katrena Lou Goude McClellan (Mitchell), and Eddie Joe Goude (Vanessa), and three grandchildren: Savanna Morgan Goude, of Columbia; Susanna Goude Christenbery (Bob) of Charlotte; and Joanna Goude Kowaleski (Mac) of Charlotte. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband William Edward Goude of 35 years and seven siblings: Dorson Rowe Howell (Rev. Furman), Burdell Rowe Cribb (Clarence), Italy Edward Rowe, Melvin Russell Rowe (Lunez), Joseph Aaron Rowe, Foye Rowe Matthews (Ashton), and Faye Rowe Norris (Lafoye). She was also predeceased by a special sister-in-law, Fannie Goude Cameron (Fred), and several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by a special niece, Lynn Rowe Hearl (Rev. Nelson) of Conway.
Services will be held Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Good Hope United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM - 2:00PM. Her memorial service will be held at 2:00PM, and she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in the New Good Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Good Hope United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 491, Hemingway, SC, 29554.
