Savola Mae Avant McCants Evans, 93, found peace in the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at her daughter's home in Tamassee, South Carolina.
Born in Hemingway, South Carolina on February 7, 1932, she was the daughter of Luther Avant and Anna Cox Avant.
She was married to Edwin Nettles McCants, Jr. of Nesmith until his passing. She later married Kenneth Marshall Evans of Summerville, SC and was married to him until his passing.
Savola was always concerned about others. She loved calling her close friends and family to find out how everyone was doing. She enjoyed spending time crocheting as well as traveling back home to visit loved ones. Her church was very important to her. She always looked forward to receiving and reading the bulletins. Savola's greatest love was her family and her puppy, Sophie.
In addition to her parents and husbands, Savola is predeceased by her sister, Olivia Avant Lewis, and a great grandchild, Samuel Ard.
Savola is survived by daughters: Kay McCants, Mary Anna McCants Ard, and Mae Marie McCants Cox (Henry Cox); a son, Edwin "Eddie" Nettles McCants, III; grandchildren: Ricci Lahn, Ryan Lahn, Cal Ard, Elizabeth McCants, Nathan Cox, and Heather Marlowe; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Hemingway First Methodist Church, 201 East Broad Street, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of the Hemingway First Methodist Church 1 hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will follow in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery located at 800 South Georgetown Highway, Johnsonville, South Carolina, 29555.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Savola's memory to Hemingway First Methodist Church, PO Box 6, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554.
