Samuel B. "S.B." Chandler, 96, widower of Ruby McDaniel Chandler, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2020, in a Florence nursing facility.

Mr. S.B. was born in Lake City, SC, on September 12, 1923, a son of the late John Henry Chandler, Sr., and Zilphy Hanna Chandler. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany. He was a farmer and also worked with Wellman Industries for thirty years. He was an active member of Johnsonville United Methodist Church, serving in multiple capacities. He was also a member of Leo Masonic Lodge #310 for 72 years and the American Legion Post #144. Mr. S.B. enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and fishing.

He is survived by a son, Beryl (Barbara) Chandler; daughters, Cecelia Morrow, Karen (Gene) Miles, and Pamela (Gene) Cantey; grandchildren, Bryan (Barbara) Chandler, Broderick Chandler, Deanna (Jack Skelton) Carnell, Benjamin Carnell, Kimberly Griffith, Jayson (Chelsea) Cantey, and Jayme (Jordan) Ward; great-grandchildren, Bryson Chandler, Elizabeth Chandler, Austin Skelton, Chad Skelton, Wyatt Griffith, Chandler Griffith, Aubrie Marsh Cantey, Scarlet Ward, Corbin Ward, Ben Carnell, and Sawyer Carnell; and a number of special nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Ruby McDaniel Chandler; a grandson, William "Larry" Griffith; sisters, Helen Chandler Hunsucker, Lula Mae Chandler Chisolm, and Ida Bell Chandler James; and a brother, John Henry Chandler, Jr.

Funeral services, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be private due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
