Sherod Thomas "Tom" Chandler, Jr., 79, husband of Jane Stone Chandler, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025 peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina.

A son of the late Sherod Thomas (Sr) and Bettie Watts Chandler, Tom was born on December 16, 1945, in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He grew up in Henry, South Carolina with a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. A 1964 graduate of Hemingway High School, he later served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. In addition, Tom retired from Johnson Controls as a HVAC Technician.  Throughout his life, he remained an humble man who gave much but expected little in return.

Tom found great joy in the outdoors and spent countless hours fishing, hunting, and target shooting. He also had a passion for collecting what his family fondly referred to as "junk," always finding value in things others might overlook. Perhaps one of his most endearing qualities was his ability to connect with children—he was, in his daughter's words, "a wonderful playmate" who never met a child who didn't quickly become his best friend. His playful spirit and kind heart left an indelible mark on those around him.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Tom is survived by his son, Sherod Thomas "Trey" Chandler III (Katie); his daughter, Ella Claire Bull (Matthew); his grandchildren, Sherod Thomas "Chip" Chandler IV, Chloe Caroline Bull, and Freya Wren Bull; his sister, Gwen Timmons; and was the proud uncle of numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, Barry Lynn Chandler.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Vox Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 1868 Vox Highway in Johnsonville, South Carolina.
