Susan Huggins Lewis, 70, passed away on November 21, 2023 in her home in the Carvers Bay community of Georgetown County, South Carolina.  Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends.

Mrs. Lewis was born the youngest daughter of Bernie and Ida Ruth Huggins.  She attended schools in Johnsonville, South Carolina and went on to graduate from Horry-Georgetown Technical College.  Mrs. Lewis was employed with Georgetown Steel Corporation for over forty years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lewis was predeceased by her husband of forty-one years, Lonnie Wayne Lewis; and two sisters, Peggy Huggins and Linda Huggins Marsh.

Surviving are her sons, Nicholas Lewis (Dayne) and Christopher Lewis; grandchildren, Xaviar Lewis, Claire Lewis, Gavin Lewis and Thomas Lewis; a brother, Randy Huggins (Loretta); and many nieces and nephews.

Susan was an avid reader and would read two to three novels weekly.  She was also a wonderful cook, known for her large holiday meals.  Most importantly, Susan was a loving mother, grandmother and friend, who will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Susan's family is especially grateful for the care given to her by Tidelands Health Oncology, particularly Drs. Catie Burbage and Nicole Anderson. The family also wishes to thank the compassionate health care professionals who provided such loving care to Susan so that she could remain in her home where her many friends and family could gather and celebrate a life well lived.

The family will receive friends at Union United Methodist Church (8209 Rose Hill Road, Georgetown, South Carolina) from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., November 25, 2023, with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m.

Following the funeral service, the burial will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1214 Kingsburg Highway, Johnsonville, South Carolina.
