Hemingway, SC

Theodore "TJ" Baxley, Jr., 83, husband of Sara Baxley, passed away, Thursday, August 13, 2020 at his home.

Mr. TJ was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late Theodore Baxley, Sr., and the late Mary Estelle Springs Baxley. After the death of his mother, at the age of seven, he was raised in the Church of God Orphanage in Sevierville, Tennessee where he was a member of the Church of God until he was sixteen. He was retired from both farming and operating heavy machinery on construction sites. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Bass Masters Club and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, but most of all spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sara Cribb Baxley; children, Lonnie (Brenda) Baxley of Hemingway, SC, Ann (Pat) Lerch of Hampton, SC and Rhonda (Tony) Cockfield of Hemingway, SC; sister, Billie Ann (Happy) Berg; brother, Jimmy (Evelyn) Baxley; 9 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by, a son-in-law, Leland Foxworth; 1 great-grandchild and 1 great-great-grandchild; 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 16, 2020 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, August 15, 2020 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, 416 N. Main St., Hemingway, SC 29554.
