W.A. Gamble, Jr., 70, husband of Sue Tanner Gamble, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018 at his home, surrounded by loved ones.
Mr. W. A. was born in Kingstree, SC, a son of the late William Albert Gamble, Sr. and the late Lucille Miller Gamble. He was the voice of "Billy A" of WKYB Radio Station in Hemingway for many years, and he also worked at Wellman Industries and Tupperware. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he held numerous positions. His most rewarding positions were serving as a Deacon and being the narrator for church programs. He was an avid Bass Fisherman.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Sue Tanner Gamble; sister, Linda (David) Bowers; mother-in-law, Nina Tanner; close family members, Gene, Martin, Kay, Cindy, Keith, and Avery; nieces and nephews; even though he had no children of his own he was blessed with two special nieces, Ashton (Matthew) Michau and Erin Owens; special friends, Harvey and Lynn Roberts and the Stalvey family. He was pre-deceased by a sister-in-law; Ginger Tanner. A special thanks to his hospice nurse, Hollie Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday, June 17, 2018 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Family Life Center, 11904 Pleasant Hill Dr., Hemingway, SC 29554.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 18, 2018 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be in the church cemetery.
