W. Sherwyn Jacobs, Esquire, 75, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 in Tidelands Georgetown Hospital.

Sherwyn was born in Hemingway, SC, a son of the late George S. and Mary Abrams Jacobs. He was a practicing attorney with W. Sherwyn Jacobs, Attorney-at-Law. A lifetime member of Rose Hill Baptist Church, he served in the US Air Force and Reserves.

He had a BS in Electrical Engineering and a Juris Doctorate in Law from the University of South Carolina.  He was an avid fan of University of South Carolina sports and enjoyed talking politics, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and his friends.

Sherwyn was President of the Georgetown Breakfast Rotary Club and a member for many years. He was President of the Georgetown County Bar Association and member of the SC Bar Association. Sherwyn was Chairman of the Georgetown County Election Commission and a member of the Georgetown County Planning Commission and Zoning Commission. He served as Assistant Solicitor for Georgetown County and was a Sergeant in the US Air Force and the Reserves. Sherwyn enjoyed being an active part of the community and served on many other boards including being a Founding Member of the Sarah Haven Home for Girls. He was an Adjunct Professor at Horry-Georgetown Technical College. He graduated as Salutatorian of Pleasant Hill High School, Class of 1964.

He is survived by his brothers, Dairen Jacobs (Linda) and Louie Jacobs (Rose); his sisters, Kay Jacobs Spires (David) and Donna Jacobs Jacobs (Bill); nieces and nephews, Jessamyn Jacobs (Stuart Johnson), Adrian Jacobs, Nathan Jacobs, Sharon Woodward, Jami Messenger (Karson), Matthew Spires (Megan), Victoria Broughton (Brentley), Steven Jacobs (Kelly), and Paul Jacobs (Elessa); and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Rose Hill Baptist Church, 4681 Rose Hill Road, Georgetown, SC 29440. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM prior to the service. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, SC, will be in the church cemetery.
