Wadus Lamont Newton,65, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Newton was born in Andrews, SC, a son of the late Glennie Marvin and Mary Green Newton. He was a retired machinist from Oneita Knitting Company and attended Bloomingvale Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved working with his hands. He was first married to the late Eva Mae Powell Newton.

Surviving are his wife, Deborah Cook NeSmith; son, Wadus Lamont Newton, Jr.; step-children, Johnny Powell, Jerry Lee Powell, Eva Jean Powell, and Baker NeSmith; brothers, Marvin (Becky) Newton, Jr., David Earl Newton, and Elvis Newton; sister, Betty Ann (James) Powell; grandchildren, Jerry Powell, Jr., Haley Newton, and Dustin Newton.
He was predeceased by his step-son, J. W. Powell; step-daughter, Ailene Powell.

Memorial services will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, July 28, 2017 in the Bloomingvale Baptist Church.
