Obituary

WALTER STEPHEN "STEVE" BRYANT

Georgetown, SC

Walter Stephen "Steve" Bryant, 74, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2021 in a Florence hospital after a long illness.

Steve was born in Hemingway, SC, the son of the late Dr. Walter E. and Mary Byrd Creel Bryant. He graduated from the Camden Military Academy and had many treasured memories of his time there. Often, he was referred to by his family and friends as "a character" and he liked nothing better than to share stories about the "good Ole days" with family and friends.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enthusiastically hunting and fishing since childhood, and he also enjoyed reading, working Sudoku puzzles, and watching old westerns and sitcoms on TV.  For the past 20 years his chosen residence was a little house on a bluff overlooking Black River where he loved to fish. His favorite excursions in his later years with his kind home care helpers were to Walmart and to anywhere he could get a good sit- down breakfast.

He is survived by two sisters, Mary Ellis "Sissy" McAndrew and Hope B. (John) Huggins; one niece, Eve M. (Brian) Badger; five great nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his beloved niece Dawn M. (Mark) Avant.
