Obituary

Wanda Jean Bolyn Baggett, 67, beloved wife of Richard "Ricky" Baggett, passed away at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, South Carolina on January 5, 2026.

A daughter of the late Laris and Ila Jean Bolyn, Wanda was born on December 18, 1958, in Hemingway, South Carolina.  Wanda lived a life marked by devotion to her faith, dedication to her work, and deep love for her family.

A proud graduate of Hemingway High School, Wanda went on to build a career in retail management. She served as a manager for both Scotchman convenience stores and Family Dollar.  Her strong work ethic and love for the people she worked with left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.

Wanda was a woman of devout faith and an active member of Rhems Pentecostal Holiness Church. Her commitment to the church community was unwavering—she took great joy in organizing the annual turkey shoot fundraiser and working in the church kitchen. Her service was not just a duty but a heartfelt expression of her beliefs and values.

Wanda is survived by her loving husband of 48 years along with her son, Christopher (Jenny) Baggett; grandchildren Rebecca (Alex) Strickland, Kayla Baggett, and Preston Baggett; brother Roy Bolyn; sister Annie Ruth Bolyn Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her daughter Laura Baggett and great-grandchildren Madeline Grace Glover, Gabriel Strickland, and Kinsley Strickland.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 in the Rhems Pentecostal Holiness Church Sanctuary.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. in the Rhems Pentecost Holiness Church Sanctuary located at 14229 Brown's Ferry Road, Georgetown, South Carolina, 29440.

Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, South Carolina, will take place in the Poplar Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 2380 State Highway 41-51, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554.
