Wyman B. Gaster, Jr.
President and Manager
Wyman is a community native who graduated from Johnsonville High School in 1980, where he was a member of the first JHS baseball team in the school’s history to win a State Championship. After graduation from JHS, he completed a 2.5-year apprenticeship with Cain Funeral Home. Under the supervision of Mr. Newell B. “Bobby” Cain, he received “some of the best training you could get anywhere at that time.” After this, he attended Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated with honors from Gupton-Jones in 1984 with a degree in Mortuary Science. Just prior to his graduation from Gupton-Jones, Wyman returned “home” on weekends to join the Morris Funeral Home staff. He has been an integral part of the Morris Funeral Home Family for the past forty years. During 35 of his 40 years at Morris, he was privileged to have been mentored by Mr. Ellison Morris, “one of the best in the business.” In addition to being a licensed embalmer and funeral director (SC License #1873), Wyman is a current owner as well as the President and Manager of Morris Funeral Home. Wyman has three children of whom he is very proud. His son, Wesley, is a first responder firefighter with the Johnsonville Fire Department. His oldest daughter, Whitney, is a certified surgical technician who is currently employed with McLeod Hospital in Florence. Wynter, his youngest daughter, is currently employed with Richardson & Company in Johnsonville after recently graduating from Coastal Carolina University with a degree in accounting. Wyman is a member of Word of Life Church in Johnsonville, the Prospect Camp S.C.V., and the Indiantown Masonic Lodge. He currently lives in Hemingway with his cat, Tigger. In regard to the past forty years at Morris Funeral Home, he states, “I could have gone to bigger places, but I don’t believe I would have found the personal satisfaction anywhere else that I have found serving the people in my home community.”

Keith Thompson
Vice President
Keith grew up in the Petersfield community of Pleasant Hill. After graduating from Pleasant Hill High School in 1981, he went to work for Wellman Industries, Inc. in Johnsonville. Keith’s career at Wellman included acting as Maintenance Director. He joined the Morris Funeral Home staff on a part-time basis in 2015. Over the years, he became a valuable full-time staff member. Keith is a current owner and the Vice-President of Morris Funeral Home. In addition to his career with Morris Funeral Home, Keith is an ordained minister who pastors the congregation at Word of Life Church in Johnsonville. He and his wife, Lynn, serve the people of WOL and the community in various ways, including visits, prayer, and food. Keith is always willing to help any person or family who is in need. Keith is a past Master of the Leo Masonic Lodge #310 as well as a Shriner. When not busy attending to the work of their Church or the funeral home, Keith and Lynn can most often be found gathering at their home in the Vox community with any, some, or all of their three children and ten grandchildren, as well as any other number of family and friends. Keith states, “Next to serving the Lord and my family, helping the people who come to Morris Funeral Home is my greatest accomplishment in life.”

Renee Capps Fish, Certified Grief Counselor

Renee is a native of Johnsonville who graduated from JHS in 1981. After graduation, she attended Winthrop University, the University of SC, and Coastal Carolina University, where she earned multiple degrees in the field of education. She is a retired teacher who taught throughout SC for 36 years. Renee joined the Morris Funeral Home staff in the fall of 2023 after the death of her husband, Morris Funeral Home Funeral Director, Ron Fish. She is a Certified Grief Counselor who has also earned certification as a Christian Grief Counselor as well as a Child and Adolescent Grief Counselor. She works with Morris Funeral Home on a full-time basis as an Apprentice Funeral Director (SC License #4484). Renee has three children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren who all reside out of state. She currently lives in Johnsonville with her fur-babies, Dobbi and Yo. Renee is a member of Rehobeth PH Church in Hemingway. In past years, she was an active member who served on multiple committees at Westside FWB Church; who acted as chairperson for the Johnsonville-Hemingway ACS Relay for Life; and who volunteered as a leader for the Johnsonville Cub/Boy Scouts. She states, “At this point in my life, I am happy to be serving the Lord as I try to be a light (Matthew 5:14) to everyone who comes through the doors at Morris Funeral Home.”

Joshua S. "Josh" Garza, Sr., Bi-Lingual (English/Spanish)
Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer
Josh graduated from Palmdale (California) High School in 1977. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force, where he earned the Award of Honor Graduate from Camp Bullis and served the country as a Security Police Specialist. After receiving an honorable discharge, Josh enrolled in the Cypress College Mortuary Science Program where he graduated on the Dean’s Honor Roll and received special training in Reconstructive Arts. Over the past 43 years, Josh has worked as a licensed embalmer, funeral director, and Certified Cremationist in South Carolina, Texas, and California. Josh served as the Deputy Coroner of Butte County, CA and taught continuing education courses on Green Burial at the San Antonio College of Mortuary Science. Josh’s diverse professional experiences have included training Apprentice Directors and managing multiple firms as well as owning/operating his own mortuary service. He is a bi-lingual Mexican-American who speaks fluent Spanish as well as English. In addition, Josh's diverse personal and professional backgrounds have educated him in the customs of multiple religions including Catholicism, Judaism, and Jehovah’s Witness. During his free time, Josh enjoys playing/listening to his favorite music as well as “hanging out” with friends and family while playing cards and cooking out. While he loves SC, Josh looks forward to occasional visits to California and Texas where his 5 children and 10 grandchildren live. Josh lives in the Pleasant Hill Community with his wife, Barbara, and several fur-children. They attend Prospect Pentecostal Holiness Church where he plays drums with the church worship leaders. Josh states, “At the age of 12, I knew I wanted to be a mortician. I truly love helping and comforting the families that we serve and I feel blessed to be a part of the Morris Funeral Home family.”

Reid Stalvey
Funeral Assistant

After moving to Hemingway in 1985, Reid joined the Morris Funeral Home staff on an as-needed basis. He is the current President of Stalvey Loans and continues to assist at the funeral home any time he is needed. Reid lives in Hemingway with his wife, Cherie. They have two daughters, Brittney and Katelin (Spencer Owens), who both work in Florence School District Five. Reid and Cherie are the proud grandparents of one granddaughter, Natalie. Reid is a member of Rehobeth PH Church in Hemingway, where he is currently serving as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. In regard to his work with Morris Funeral Home, Reid states, “Being able to help others in their time of need is very, very self-satisfying to me.”

Mr. Bethel is a native of the Pleasant Hill community who graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1970. Ben moved to Hemingway when his father became the pastor at Rehobeth PH Church. After graduating from Johnsonville High School in 2012, he attended Francis Marion University, where he earned a BS in History in 2016. David Dorsey
Funeral Assistant
David is the newest addition to the Morris Funeral Home Family. He began his career in June 2024 after graduating from Johnsonville High School. In addition to assisting at the funeral home, he is also a full-time student at Piedmont Technical College in Greenville, SC, where he will be pursuing a career in Mortuary Science. David lives in Scranton, SC, and is the grandson of MFH Owner Keith Thompson. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends and eating at his grandparents. David states, "I enjoy being able to help people in the community, and the people I work with at Morris are great."
